How I got started shooting
I started Shooting when I was 14 years old at the 12th Precinct Pistol and Archery Club. The Pistol Director, Garrison Johns, got me into competitive shooting. While shooting at the 12th PPAC I met Naval Academy Pistol Coach Senior Chief Petty Officer(ret) Kathy Callahan, who became my coach for International Pistol. About the end of my junior year of high school I became serious about shooting, and focused more on International. After graduating high school, I spent a year training for Junior Olympics and Nationals, shooting strictly Air and Free Pistol. After making the National Development Team I enlisted in the Air Force. Along the way I also shot with and was mentored by several Air Force Team members who frequented the Twelfth, such as AFNPT Coach MSgt(ret) Ed Hall and Cols Joe Chang, Mark Teskey, Dave McCormick and Dick Poore.
