2009 Spring Team Camp

The USAF National Pistol Team (AFNPT) is only one of several shooting teams representing the Air Force. The basic discipline that the AFNPT competes in is called Conventional Pistol, and is commonly referred to as Bullseye Competition. More information on this discipline can be gained by reviewing sites such as the Bullseye Pistol - Online Encyclopedia. The team is made up of active duty Air Force members in regular Air Force specialties. It currently has members from career fields as diverse as Exterior Electricians, Heavy Equipment Operators, Squadron Commanders, Munitions/Aircraft Maintenance, Pentagon staffers, AETC Instructors, Contract Management Specialists, etc. As can be seen from the above list, it is not a "dedicated core" of Security Forces or Combat Arms folks; however, some are on the team and their AFSC lends itself to the sport.  All the members serve the pistol team part time:  training and competing locally during off-duty time, and traveling TDY or PTDY to compete at the "big matches" as a team.  The AFNPT represents the USAF to the general public in local, regional, and national level competitions against civilian, police and other military teams.
